I finished my friend Caitlin's Christmas present yesterday. I quite like it. It turned out really well.

What I did was get a normal sort of white shirt, then I batiked onto it the names of her four favourite broadway shows and did some swirlies and whatnot in between and stuff like that, then I dyed it all blue. It looks soooooo cool. I meant to take a picture of it so I could put it up here, but I forgot. So next time I go over to her house I'm going to take my camera so I can get a picture then.

In the summer (when I've actually got some spare time) I'm planning on setting up a sort of small business (very small) where people e mail me pictures of what they want on a shirt and I'll batik it for them. Hopefully it will work and people will actually want me to make shirts for them. I'm excited.

Oh, by the way, for anyone who doesn't actually know what batik is, you paint melted wax onto fabric, dye it so all the waxed bits stay the original colour, then you either wax more of it and dye it again, or you take the wax off and you have a SUPER-COOL shirt. Sarongs are batiked.
