So the lid to our septic tank has always had a wee hole in the one corner and it's never really bothered anyone unless you got RIGHT up close to it, and I dunno, maybe people's bowels have been more active recently, but now you can smell it even if you're not standing within three inches of it. Now, for those of you who don't know, the septic tank was stupidly located just beyond the deck of the house, well, the part that I ripped up last summer anyway, which also happens to be within about 12 feet of one of my bedroom windows. This window also happens to be the one that I open. During the day it doesn't seem to be a problem, but at night all the lovely smells associated with a septic tank drift freely into my room. Now I don't know about you, but it is reeealllly hard to sleep when your room smells like poo. And not just any kind of poo.... old poo. Old poo that has been sitting in the septic tank for a looooooong while. So why don't I just close my window you ask? Well I have been, but even though my room is in the basement, if you have the window closed at night, you ROAST. Luckily the screen for my window fits the other window in my room which is an acceptable distance away from the septic tank. (For whatever reason we're one screen short in the basement. Originally both my windows had screens, but then Hali's window didn't have one at all and she couldn't open her window for more than about three seconds without being eaten alive by bugs, so I gave her one of mine, which then means I can only have one window open at a time.)

My other window hasn't been opened for soooo long, it not having it's own screen and all, so there were all sorts of spider webs and dead bugs and other nasty and unpleasant things caught in there. Quite nice... Ooh, another thing that wasn't entirely pleasant was last night when I first thought to switch the screen to the other window. It would have been a good idea had my window not been open for the last week or so.. You see, there were all sorts of bugs and moths in between the screen and the glass, so when I took off the screen to switch it to the other window, all said bugs and moths decided to fly into my room and since all of the lights were off except my reading lamp... all the moths headed over to my bed. I even found one parked on my pillow. Hurrah..

But, on a much happier and more exciting note... I got to drive around with the roof off my car for the first time today!!!!! :> I could have done it ages ago, it's definitely been warm enough, but what with working I never really had the opportunity. (There's no sense in parking your car all day with the roof off. Granted I don't really have anything in there worth stealing, but still. It's actually quite surprising how non-windy it is driving 110 on the highway with no roof on. Much less windy and faaaaaaaaaaaaar less noisy than having a window open. Makes it quiiiite nice. :>
