This morning at breakfast I thought that the dishes in the dishwasher were clean because the night before when I had been about to put my dishes in everything looked really clean, so I didn't think twice about grabbing a bowl out of there for my cereal. I grabbed a bowl and thought it felt a wee bit less than clean on the inside, but it looked fine and since our dishwasher is probably as old as I am (or nearly at least) I didn't really think anything of it. So I poured my cereal and added the milk and then went back into the dishwasher for a spoon. The spoon I grabbed out was definitely not clean. So then I actually pulled the racks out to see if the dishes really were clean or if it was just that one spoon. The dishes definitely were NOT clean which got me wondering about why my bowl, apart from feeling a bit scratchy on the inside, looked really clean. Then I remembered that after I'm done eating my cereal I let whichever cat is closest lick out the wee bit of milk left in the bottom. So the scratchy feeling was not from the ridiculously hard water we have at our house... no.. it was dried cat spit.... And since I'd already poured the milk into the bowl, there was absolutely no point in changing bowls because all of the dried cat spit would have been dissolved into the milk already. Mmmmm.... yummy......
