The other day a bunch of us went to see the grandstand show fireworks from Scotchman's hill. (That's the hill where they set the fireworks off from, so they are pretty much directly over your head and SOOOOOOO close, it's awesome.) So anyway, the point of this rant is not to ramble on about fireworks, because anyone who has ever been in Calgary during the Stampede will already know that these particular fireworks are quite stupendous. The point of this ramble is that while we were driving to Scotchman's hill, we drove along the river and I have discovered that I really, really like the way the river looks after dark. I don't really think I've seen the bow after dark, or if I have, I haven't paid any attention before. I just liked the way the street lights reflected off of it and how dark it was. If I lived anywhere near the bow river, I could probably be found sitting on the banks after dark for a good long while.. Until either the mosquitos carried me off, or all the drunks came round..
