So my shirt WAS done, but instead of being a nice BRIGHT red, it was more of a melon pinkish colour. So I decided to re-wax it and then re-dye it. I also left it sitting in a plastic bag with the dye still in it for longer this time to try and see if it wouldn't stay dark. Everything was looking good even if the wax didn't really really want to go all the way through the material this time around, so I rinsed out the dye before heading off the bible study. I had thought about leaving the dye in overnight, but decided against it both because I'm impatient, and because it was folded in the bag, and my mum brought up the good point that the creases might end up darker than the rest.
So I rinsed it out and hung it up to dry. When I got back I went in to see how it was doing.. It's melon pinkish.
Which means that either there should be more dye powder in the water, or that "Scarlet Red" should actually be called "Melon Pink".. Hali says it's the absolute perfect shade of melon pink.. The only problem is that I don't like pink. But I really really REALLY don't want to have to do this shirt a fourth time.
