siiiiiigh. two lectures into AMAT119 (multivariable calculus for engineers, even though i am not one) and i can already feel a nervous breakdown coming on. AAARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!! i'm certainly hoping that it gets easier, because if it gets harder i may just spontaneously combust. and that would be bad. however would i finish my book if i were on fire. hahaha.. that reminds me of my first chem lab this semester that i had last wendesday... the TA was going through all the safety proceedures and whatnot and she was like, if you are on fire, stand under this shower and pull the handle. she's much better than the one that i had last semester. she is much more organized and after she explains what we're doing, i actually feel like i know what we're actually doing. which is good. although a rather large amount of glassware was broken that first lab.. in fact, more glass was broken in that one lab than all of last semester. my buret had a blocked stopcock (the bit at the end which lets liquid pass through for those of you who do not give a flying widget about chem...) and so she took it and was tapping it a bit to see if she could loosen anything and suddenly the whole buret shattered (it's a tall glass tube) and she got purple potassium permanganate ALL OVER her hands. so now they are stained a nice brown colour (which is the colour of permanganate once it oxidises). then later on, one of the burets that was just sitting quietly by itself in it's stand suddenly jumped out of its holder and shattered on the counter sending even more permanganate everywhere. all in all it was a very purple lab. and then at least three other glass apparatuses broke although they weren't filled with anything purple. it'll be interesting to see if all the other labs are as messy as this one was. the TA, whose name is Jody and who is very nice and has a great sense of humour, blames the quiz question. (there's always a two question quiz before each lab) and the safety question on this one was, how do you dispose of broken glassware, which we did quite a bit of this time around.. :> so we are hoping that there is never a question on there concerning people being on fire....

i went to adult gym last wednesday and learned how to flip through a hula hoop. it's great fun, although very odd the first time. see, you hold the hoop and run and then you do a flip, and while you're in the air you turn the hoop so that it goes all around your body. it's kind of hard to land them though because trying to get the hoop around your feet stalls you a bit and then you don't open up soon enough and end up landing on your back. but i did land two. or rather, one and a half. no. two. i landed two. :> and i worked on my arabians a bit. i got them back, and then lost them again. very frustrating. although i did get my roundoff backtuck. which i could already do, i just hadn't for ages and ages and ages and ages and well, you get the point.
